Still struck by what I see every day... the tall and the small.

Bienvenido a Miami, or, TGIF

I am a walking zombie.

So I get into Ft. Lauderdale after an hour and a half delay last night. By the time I worked out and got to sleep, I was looking at perhaps five hours if I was lucky. This is not, I hasten to add, unusual at all when you are in a different time zone every few days, and I can deal with sleep deprivation as it has become the rule rather than the exception in the past ten years-- waking up at 8 am is sleeping in considerably for me, even on the weekends.

However.

Someone, SOMEONE, thought it would be a kicky prank to pull the fire alarm thingee at the hotel at 3 am last night. THREE IN THE MORNING. I was, also, on the twelfth floor. So, just in case there was an actual fire, they evacuated the building and had everyone stand out on the street until they cleared us to go back in (12 flights of stairs, people). Now, I was lucky enough that I could throw on clothes. I saw a lot of sleepwear last night, let's just leave it at that.

THREE A.M. And I had to commute to Miami, on top of that, because I don't do the Miami airport if I can at all help it. My flight home boards in an hour and I am counting the minutes. We have to go to Houston first thing in the morning, but at least tonight I will have a couple of hours to relax at home before heading out again! I would love to personally throttle the jack&*^ who set off the alarm, BTW.
